Human resource refers to the set of people who work or the workforce of an organisation. The organisation may include business, education institution, a hospital or any other type of company. The human resource may refer to the executive personnel, the employees of the company, the suppliers, the service providers of the organization (banks, insurance companies, marketing firms), the customers of the company, and may also include the shareholders. This whole group constitutes the human powers that takes part in running and have a direct relationship to the company. This motivates the managers and they are able to perform better hence increasing ownership of stores that are distributed worldwide. Treatment toward the employees, the company has been able to achieve its mission by treating their employees as an integral part of the organization; this too results to better performance of employees since they are highly motivated. Organization culture and belief, Sam instilled that the customs and rules of the company provide strict guidelines as to how the organization should run (Brann, 92) . One important belief is that customers are the main reason the company exists, better service to them is the most appropriate thing to do so as to remain loyal to them. The hugest advantage of some of this company’s human resource practice, is that the employees are highly motivated hence performance and achieving of the prime goal. Better service to the customers helps in increasing the sales of the organization and also aids in retaining and attracting new customers. Disadvantages of the company’s practices: the entrusting of many people with the company secret which would give competitors an added advantage if the information was to leak. Conflict may arise between members of the team and if not resolved would lead to major damage on the business. The human resource practices at Wal- mart would be considered as effective and if properly implemented they would be appropriate to take into account.

Hilcorp Energy Company is an organization that produces and distributes energy in the various states and cities in the United States of America. It is a company that takes much pride and major concern for its employees for it believes that the success of the firm depends on the welfare and the treatment of the employees. One of the strategies the company has incorporated in the welfare of its work force is the payment of its interns; this gives the new employees or potential employees the motivation to be part of the company. The company also takes part in the development of team work and group organization practices. Through team work people are able to accomplish the set desired goals of the company and also aids in the innovation; this enables to create and have new ideas for the business and develop better and improved ways to improve the organizations functional property. The advantage of paying interns aids in motivation of the employees increasing the performance of the employees and when the interns are through with their attachment, they still want to get back to the business and fully work for the organization. Team work is a huge advantage to the business as it improves the organizations production level; it helps in the building and coming up with new ideas for the organization. Specialization is also possible in the organization this helps in enhancing the skills of the members of the organization hence better and quality production. Some of the cons in the human resource practices that the company has developed for itself may include: through division of labour and specialization, the employees only get exposed to limited number of activities hence reducing their scope of increasing knowledge and being diverse. This may be a disadvantage when one group fails no other within the organization is skilled enough to take over. Conflicts between members of the organization the organization may also lead to the downfall or discontinuance of several activities in the organization. The practices that the Hilcorp firm is using are appropriate and would be recommendable for the organization but the companies department should be cautious in the implementation of these practices by taking into consideration the advantages and disadvantages. Through ways such as offering incentives to interns, allowing proper flow of information and employee activities that allow interaction and building of habitable relationships would provide a better working environment.

Apple a company developed and founded by Steve Jobs (Imboimbo, 7). Over the past years since its establishment in the development and production of IMAC and I-pods it has continued to lead in the production of computer software. It is running a very distinct operation in its retail; each employee is assigned what to do. They are supposed o understand their roles and be able to deliver his or her service with accordance to what is expected in the company goals. There are things the apple organization does that enable them achieve their goals with the main focus being on the human resource practices. Knowing their roles, employees need to know and follow to the letter their roles and responsibilities in the organization. They wear T-shirts that identify their specific roles in the organization. This enables customers to identify with ease who to go to in case something is wrong with your Mac book. Free up your leadership, when someone gets deployed, managers spend less time wondering who hire next or to replace the lost individual. He or she spends most of the time in his or her work to keep machines running. Apple employees spend most of their time taking care of the employees and the work of the managers is to make sure that that is what happens. They are doing more than just managing the employees but they are also taking part in the coaching of new staff. Make work meaningful, it matters a lot when employees really have a full idea of what they are doing. This way it is easier to make them do what they are responsible to their level best. Through practices such as involving the employees in what the company does allows them to feel that they are part of the organization. For example, the store employees when highly motivated they are able to create good and customer satisfactory relationship; this enables the company to retain and gain more customers and employees at the same time.Retaining talent while developing new talent and also maintaining of the discovered talent.Many firms are struggling in the acquiring of new talent, but how many make the effort of trying to get it from the people outside the organization? Apple tries to acquire some of its talent from college grads those that are still in school. Through sponsoring and giving scholarships to those that are interested and are potential software and hardware engineers, they are able to get more employees. Again through helping the society they get to attract more customers since they gain their favour and affection. The advantages that the human resource practices that Apple applies and exercises on the employees enables that they are up for the task and that they are able to meet the requirements and responsibility that they have in the organization. Managers are able to take care and lead their employees and at the same time they are also able to carry out their activities. Through helping the society the company is able to fulfil its obligation to the society and through gaining its favour they get more employees that are motivated hence the better performance and customers tend to be loyal. Maintenance and search for new talent gives room for innovation and acquisition of skilled and qualified personnel. Some of the disadvantages that may be viewed however are: through search for new talent the company loses a lot of money and the people it sponsors may not really qualify for the task, some may end up working for other companies. Managers may fail to give hundred percent supervision to the employees hence it would be hard for them to spot the flaws in the organization.
