Significance of symbolism in “The Things They Carried”?

The essay should include A) an introduction paragraph in which you establish your topic, provide any background information that is necessary, and establish why your area of focus is important–why it is worth writing about. Your intro. paragraph should end with your thesis statement.  B) 2-3 body paragraphs in which you supply evidence to support your thesis. Most of this evidence will come from the text itself. Use specific details; each body paragraph should have at least one direct quote from the text. However, do not use quotes to take the place of your own opinions and analysis. Do not do any research! and C) a conclusion paragraph in which you sum up your main ideas, leave readers with “something to think about”, and provide closure.
