The purpose of my project is to establish to what degree the implementation of clinical inter-professional team-based in triage reduces emergency department LWBS rates when compared to RN only triage within a 4 to 6 week time period. In data collection, the DPI collects data on patient wait times, ED crowding measures, and ED staffing. In the data collection process, I will maintain patient privacy and confidentiality by following policies and guidelines set by the facility on obtaining and sharing patient data.
I will also use the facility’s secure systems to store the data and ensure high levels of security and digital protection. Using secure devices and systems will ensure the patients’ data is safe and secure. Most importantly, the data collection will be guided by the principles of respect for persons and beneficence. Hence, autonomy will be upheld, thereby protecting the patient’s right to have any private information remain confidential.
